Well that’s the title anyway. It’s not strictly speaking accurate as I know this surfer lives in Dublin and I know this photograph was taken in Morocco. But we did fly home the evening this picture was taken. I’ve a yen to go travelling again. I’ve had it since about September to be honest but things [...] and both from December 2007. Amongst my favourite photographs again, I’m not sure why. There’s nothing very pyrotechnical about this photograph and in that, I think lies the reason I like it so much. It’s easy to make a kitesurfing photograph look great when your kitesurfer is dangling upside down in the middle of a newstyle trick. And once you have bells and whistles like autofocus and continuous shooting [...] I can’t remember why, but this lot of photographs was taken a morning before I had some problems with the camera, can’t remember what exactly, because they preceded a break from taking photography. I’m not sure why. I always liked them for some reason. They seemed to have so much warmth to them. as well as toys [...] The PKRA championship rolled to an end in New Caledonia this morning and although going into the competition, there were three in line for the possible win, come the end, the man who walked out winner was Kevin Langaree. I have a couple of nice photographs of him in the archive from a trip to [...] Sometime last year, Eamon Armstrong and I did a night kite shoot. It was the first time I was out at night with a flash – usually I rely on ambient light to shoot stuff – but I’d seen some really hot post dusk wakeboarding shots and wanted to have a go at something similar. Albeit, [...] This is my favourite wipe out photograph of all time. You can’t shoot watersports without happening on the odd wipe out here and there. They get…less than interesting after a while. Big splashes of water. Occasionally something special will come along, and this is one. I don’t think it would have worked from any other angle [...] One of the most frequent criticisms voiced for kite photographers is that they should try and get the kite and board into pictures. I’ve fielded this one a lot, and while it doesn’t surprise me that you get it from photographers who know shagall about kitesurfing, I am surprised that you get it from kitesurfers [...] Francois Colussi of Pure Magic Kitesurfing flies over Keel Lake (no – I swear that’s where he was – I was there too) last Sunday at the freestyle session following the nowind/competition the day before. I bought a 10-20mm Sigma wide angle more than 2 years ago to do shots like this. Finally got the conditions [...] Another slightly older photograph, this taken at a KPWT kite gig in Portugal a couple of years ago. This was done before I became a user of any sort of filters at all, by the way. No filter work. Anyway, so to a few interesting links.
