post-sunset, Carlingford Lough

I’m not sure that post sunset is the right description actually. Carlingford Lough is bounded by the Mournes on one side and the Cooley Mountains on the other side. At sunset, the sun goes and hides behind some of the Cooleys. The result is the sky is still quite bright, but the light is a [...]

Sunset, Bullock Harbour Dalkey

I live in North Dublin. Apparently it’s the sticks but frankly, it has a postcode, the buses are pretty frequent and on average take around 15 minutes to get to town so it qualifies as the city for me.

Last night, suffering from a little “I spend too much time inside in front of my computer”, [...]

Sunrise at White Rock Beach, Killiney

I’ve come to the conclusion that Dalkey is a vortex out of which it’s hard to find your way, particularly if you are looking for Killiney.

Late last night, Darragh Sherwin contacted me and suggested I join him and Paula Banks for a sunrise shoot in Killiney. Despite the fact that it was around 11pm when [...]

Sunrise, Skerries

I think I’m going to do a large print of this for myself.

The tide was high, but there were a few waves so I had a go at creating stuff. I was not, I think, altogether successful, [...]

Howth post sunset I

This was from the first filter session way back. It’s still one of my favourite photographs.

The photograph consists of three stacked filters, two ND grads and a tobacco grad which is a worrying fetish which I developed overtime. It was, at the time, an impulse purchase so really I am surprised that I got stuff [...]

Moonlight Sonata

I’ve a feeling the jpg convert has murdered this a little.

I owe thanks to Richard for lending me the filters. I was on the beach to take action shots, not moon shots. This is from a fullmoon night….beautiful evening on Dollymount.

On a new journey…

I used to have a site called Dancing Shades of Light. It has died.

This is my new home. I hope it’s a happier place for me than the old site was before it started to die under the weight of Gumblar attacks.

This photograph was taken in Malahide, Dublin, Ireland. The effect was achieved by using [...]
