Another slightly older photograph, this taken at a KPWT kite gig in Portugal a couple of years ago.
This was done before I became a user of any sort of filters at all, by the way. No filter work.

Hummingbirds from David Kay
Lovely shot. I’ve often tried these kite + surfer shots in an effort to move away from the puppet-on-a-string stuff but not been very successful — so far. Generally the surfer is too small in the frame but the sun in this shot gives it some great drama
The kitelines are 30m long which tends to make it difficult to get kite+surfer shots of any merit at all. For a long time I stopped trying.
I’m glad you like this though – it was one of the ones I liked most from that day.
Will let you know if I’m down your way because I think there are a couple of nice beaches for kitesurfing around you (you are in the south somewhere, right?)
